Banana Bread

  • 2 cups allpurpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)


Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Step 2

In a medium Bowl , combine flour, baking soda and salt.

Step 3

In a large Bowl , cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the mashed bananas. Fold in walnuts if desired.

Step 4

Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

Step 5

Bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.
